“…18 tree trunks flank each side of an intimate living space, before continuing upward into the ceiling in sinuous, flowing formations… we wanted to use the connection between trunk and root to stiffen the structure… we had to dig up the tree trunks with their roots during winter… the next step was to scan the trunks and roots to create a 3D model…”

After ten years abroad, Karianne Aanesland has moved home to work in the 80-year-old family business. She is still unsure whether she will take over.

Norske Trevarer has created a very own network for female managers and middle managers in the industry . In November, the fifth gathering was ready so far. This time it was Agder that was taken over by 16 committed ladies, and the journey went to Kristiansand, Byremo and Lillesand where we visited Strai , Hamran , Lauvverket and Aanesland .

Thanks to southern manufacturers, 4,300 square meters of glued laminated timber ceilings are currently being installed at the Viking Age Museum, a project worth nearly four billion kroner on Bygdøy in Oslo. Glulam is produced at Sørlaminering and sent to Aanesland Treindustri for assembly into modules. Then transported to Oslo where they are installed on site by Børslid Montasje.

The study tour to Norwegian Wood Cluster in the Kristiansand area recently included a stop at Aanesland Treindustri in Lillesand. There, an engaged chairman Gunnar Adolf Aanesland told about the factory's history and the conscious focus on reuse solutions in recent years.
